urban alternative lawn
corydon area

Our client was looking to have a non-traditional, wild and flowing garden to soften the rigid form of the home. The mound on the far side of the yard covers steps salvaged from the first home, and it was important to our client that we utilize the steps in our design. The mound quickly became the focal point in the design. Lush colourful ground-covers drape and spill over the mound, flowing down into other swatches of varying colour and texture.

When selecting plants, special attention was taken to spread the bloom times and foliage presence of the grasses (cool and warm season) from spring right into the fall, to avoid seeing huge patches of bare soil - imperative when planting meadows and lawn alternatives. Project photos show this garden is in it's second year of growth, and the plants will continue to fill in to their mature size.
